Get Ready! Assessments
It’s not always easy to tell if a child is falling behind his or her peers. Many parents recognize differences in their young child, but are unsure if there is genuine reason for concern or where to turn for help. We help by offering concerned parents a developmental screening for children ages six months to six years. A complete screening involves parent and primary caregiver interviews as well as direct observation of the child. Once this screening is complete, our staff creates a program tailored to meet each child’s specific needs and can release the results of the screening to the child’s pediatrician or other service provider with parent permission. Our fun, play-based intervention sessions are interactive and family-friendly!

Get Set! Intervention
It is generally accepted that a great deal of brain development happens in a child’s first five years of life. Early intervention ideally begins as soon as there is any suspicion of developmental delay, as much can be done to get a child back onto a typical developmental track. Our Get Set! program is designed for infants and toddlers showing early signs of developmental delay, infants and toddlers who have a sibling diagnosed with a developmental disability, and parents looking to accelerate their child’s development through supported naturalistic teaching. The Get Set! curriculum was designed to target essential skills within each developmental domain considered pivotal for later learning and skill acquisition. Whether a child needs help across domains or specific support to target identified skills, such as attention or imitation, our staff can help.

Our Get Set! program provides parents with strategies for stimulating and enhancing the communication, social-interaction, and play skills of their children. Get Set! gives parents access to empirically validated treatment methodologies at a price that is not prohibitive. This program provides parents with information regarding typical infant development, and shows them how to incorporate play-based “teaching opportunities” using daily activities and routines, such as bath time or meal time to encourage skill development in their children. Get Set! also provides families with access to a licensed speech and language pathologist and occupational therapist should a parent express concerns specific to communication or motor development that may require additional consultation from these professionals. The goal of the Get Set! program is to provide a comprehensive and low cost network of support for children showing delays to get them back on track with their development and keep those already on track in step with their peers so that they will be ready to participate successfully in preschool programs.

Go! Playgroups
Need a little support with social skills? Did you know that the development of early play and social skills are a crucial part of children’s success in school and with developing early friendship skills?

Being able to negotiate social interactions is a difficult task for all children. Learning how to support a child’s efforts is a difficult task for most parents. Our Go! Playgroups provide children with foundational skills to give them a boost over their peers and provides parents with an opportunity for “hands-on” learning and guided support. Go! Playgroups were developed to build confidence and enhance social and play skills to promote positive school experiences. Parents are taught how to encourage pro-social skills in a small group setting with other parents and their children, how to problem-solve sticky situations with their toddler (“He won’t share!”), and how to encourage happy and socially aware children! Our Go! Playgroups create a positive environment where parents can support each other in helping their children develop social and play skills.
